Weiss Family – Addie, Ryan, Alexis, Reese, & Tyler

 March was a busy month with many days celebrating.  Between the presents received for Alexis as a new Big Sister and all the Birthday Gifts it was a festive month to say the least!  Singing Happy Birthday is one of Lexie’s favorite songs so we sang it often to her and with her for everyone else too!  We enjoyed a wonderful weekend of beautiful weather and spring skiing at Magic Mountain in Vermont.   Alexis had a fun Cinderella themed 2nd birthday party and in general we enjoyed each day both the rainy ones and the sunny ones.  Here are some links to pictures from the month: ALBUM 1  SPRING SKIING flickr picture album weekend in Vermont    ALBUM 2  Alexis’s Birthday Party Pictures   ALBUM 3  Random March Pictures.

Uncle Jake and his Girls

In early February we spent a couple of days camped at Pop pop’s weekday work residence in Greenwich and ventured into New York City with the girls.  We did a lot in two days considering traveling with a toddler and a newborn.  Alexis loved the giant M&M store in Times Square and insisted on getting the M&M shorts that she proceeded to wear the rest of the day.  We braved the winter school vacation week crowds and saw the Museum of Natural History with Uncle Jake.  It was so dark so the video doesn’t come clear and I haven’t been able to edit it from HD, but Alexis kept saying “Lookit the Big Whale!”  She loved the Giant Blue Whale .  And of course we took her baby doll, Emme, to the doll hospital to be fixed (Tyler chewed her arm off) and had lunch at the cafe – always a fun experience.  A visit to the Diamond District to see our friend, Jay, gave Reese an early education to a “girl’s best friend”.  Here are the pictures from NYC:   CLICK HERE for FEBRUARY NewYorkCITY PICTURES

When Reese was 2 weeks old we did a studio photo shoot with her, Alexis, and Tyler.  Here is the link to see some of those pictures:  REESE 2 WEEK ALBUM.

 It is hard to believe that Reese is already 5 weeks old.  I forget where I read it, but the quote was about life and especially with kids and said ”the days are long but the years are short”.   It is so true because each day I mark off by the various little challenges of getting diapers changed, three girls dressed (myself included), breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, play time and getting out the door to various activities.  The day seems so long and I’m grateful when everyone is asleep and I can sleep too.  Then all of the sudden I realize 2 years have gone by since Alexis was born and 5 weeks have passed since Reese’s birth and it feels like it is all passing by too fast.  I guess time flies when you are having fun!

Alexis has a Baby Sister

Reese joined our family on Tuesday, January 26th of 2010.  It was an easy delivery – the hardest part was the car ride to the hospital.  Thank goodness we didn’t live far since morning commuting traffic, bumpy roads and contractions are not a great combination.   Once at the hospital the nurses, as usual, were amazing and it was a wonderful experience.  And thanks to Natalie for the custom Hospital Gown - Reese was welcomed into the world in style!   The early days of quiet cuddles with a snuggly newborn have been blissful.  We are settling into a routine, which like all things dealing with newborns changes daily.  But it is exciting having two little girls in the house.  Alexis loves her baby sister and first thing in the morning she wants to see “Reesie” (said as a sing-song voice of two syllables).  Here is an album of pictures – There are just over 100 pictures and several videos at the end of the album.  Unfortunately I was so sure Reese would come early my bag was packed weeks ahead, and then when the due date neared it seemed like she wasn’t coming any time soon.  At the last minute I forgot the camera so the earliest pictures were taken with an iphone.   Click here to view our picture album on Flickr: http://flickr.com/gp/addieryan/544q68

Announcing Reese LaGrave Weiss.     Born January 26, 2010 at 2:13 PM.    8 lbs 14 oz.   Addie and Reese are both doing great and looking forward to coming home.      We’ll get more pictures up as things settle down (if  that’s possible in the near future).

At the last minute we got a pleasant surprise of plans for the MLK holiday weekend.  Auntie Ann (Nona), Cousin Julia, and 2nd Cousin Alessandra came up from Washington DC for a visit.  Alexis had great fun with Ale and there was lots of joy with being all “together” as she liked to repeat.  And the fun of a sleepover at Mimi & PopPop’s house along with dressing the same like twins.  We took lots of pictures of the girls and had a great time eating good food and visiting.  We spent a fun day in Boston going to the Aquarium and eating out in the North End.  As with everything it was sad to see the weekend end.  Click the cute picture of the “twins” to the left or here to see more pictures and several videos from the weekend.

Most importantly it was a great distraction as everyone is waiting to see when Baby Girl 2 will make her appearance.  The due date is the 25th or 26th or even the 28th of January depending on which formula of calculation you use … and she seems quite happy to stay put where she is till that due date and possibly beyond.

Alexis Skis

After some initial dryland training on skis sliding around the kitchen and decorating the tips with Cinderella and Snow White stickers, Alexis had some fun in the snow with Daddy and Pop Pop.  The princess stickers helped us guide her (rather than left or right) to keep her tips from crossing.  It was a great morning with fresh powder conditions and she had a lot of fun for her first experience.  Click the picture to the left or here to see an album of pictures from that morning.  The video below is also part of the flickr album, so if you have trouble viewing it here, check out the album of pictures. 

Brooke turns 2

Brooke turned 2 on December 29th and she had a fun Tea Party themed birthday event.  Alexis enjoyed decorating a hat with stickers and Grammy Gee read “Tea with the Queen”.  Forgoing the cupcake itself, Alexis chose to focus on eating the gummy bears and M&M’s that were provided to decorate the cupcakes.  All in all it was another fun family affair.  Here’s a link to Heather’s picture album.
