When Reese was 2 weeks old we did a studio photo shoot with her, Alexis, and Tyler. Here is the link to see some of those pictures: REESE 2 WEEK ALBUM.
It is hard to believe that Reese is already 5 weeks old. I forget where I read it, but the quote was about life and especially with kids and said ”the days are long but the years are short”. It is so true because each day I mark off by the various little challenges of getting diapers changed, three girls dressed (myself included), breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, play time and getting out the door to various activities. The day seems so long and I’m grateful when everyone is asleep and I can sleep too. Then all of the sudden I realize 2 years have gone by since Alexis was born and 5 weeks have passed since Reese’s birth and it feels like it is all passing by too fast. I guess time flies when you are having fun!
Reese joined our family on Tuesday, January 26th of 2010. It was an easy delivery – the hardest part was the car ride to the hospital. Thank goodness we didn’t live far since morning commuting traffic, bumpy roads and contractions are not a great combination. Once at the hospital the nurses, as usual, were amazing and it was a wonderful experience. And thanks to Natalie for the custom Hospital Gown - Reese was welcomed into the world in style! The early days of quiet cuddles with a snuggly newborn have been blissful. We are settling into a routine, which like all things dealing with newborns changes daily. But it is exciting having two little girls in the house. Alexis loves her baby sister and first thing in the morning she wants to see “Reesie” (said as a sing-song voice of two syllables). Here is an album of pictures – There are just over 100 pictures and several videos at the end of the album. Unfortunately I was so sure Reese would come early my bag was packed weeks ahead, and then when the due date neared it seemed like she wasn’t coming any time soon. At the last minute I forgot the camera so the earliest pictures were taken with an iphone. Click here to view our picture album on Flickr: http://flickr.com/gp/addieryan/544q68
Also … there is a new poll on the top right margin on this page, so be sure to cast your vote on who you think Reese looks the most like.
Announcing Reese LaGrave Weiss. Born January 26, 2010 at 2:13 PM. 8 lbs 14 oz. Addie and Reese are both doing great and looking forward to coming home. We’ll get more pictures up as things settle down (if that’s possible in the near future).
At the last minute we got a pleasant surprise of plans for the MLK holiday weekend. Auntie Ann (Nona), Cousin Julia, and 2nd Cousin Alessandra came up from Washington DC for a visit. Alexis had great fun with Ale and there was lots of joy with being all “together” as she liked to repeat. And the fun of a sleepover at Mimi & PopPop’s house along with dressing the same like twins. We took lots of pictures of the girls and had a great time eating good food and visiting. We spent a fun day in Boston going to the Aquarium and eating out in the North End. As with everything it was sad to see the weekend end. Click the cute picture of the “twins” to the left or here to see more pictures and several videos from the weekend.
Most importantly it was a great distraction as everyone is waiting to see when Baby Girl 2 will make her appearance. The due date is the 25th or 26th or even the 28th of January depending on which formula of calculation you use … and she seems quite happy to stay put where she is till that due date and possibly beyond.
After some initial dryland training on skis sliding around the kitchen and decorating the tips with Cinderella and Snow White stickers, Alexis had some fun in the snow with Daddy and Pop Pop. The princess stickers helped us guide her (rather than left or right) to keep her tips from crossing. It was a great morning with fresh powder conditions and she had a lot of fun for her first experience. Click the picture to the left or here to see an album of pictures from that morning. The video below is also part of the flickr album, so if you have trouble viewing it here, check out the album of pictures.
Brooke turned 2 on December 29th and she had a fun Tea Party themed birthday event. Alexis enjoyed decorating a hat with stickers and Grammy Gee read “Tea with the Queen”. Forgoing the cupcake itself, Alexis chose to focus on eating the gummy bears and M&M’s that were provided to decorate the cupcakes. All in all it was another fun family affair. Here’s a link to Heather’s picture album.
The month of December was a busy one. We had some wonderful snow storms that got Alexis out in the back pack on the trails with Daddy and Tyler. And on the 13th she made the rounds with Mimi & Pop Pop to deliver goodies to neighbors in the Scandanavian Tradition of Saint Lucia. Clicking on the picture of Alexis to the left will lead to an album of more pictures from early December. That night she also went with them to see the Boston Ballet performance of the Nutcracker and ever since we watched the ballet on DVD a million times and every night and nap we still have to read the Nutcracker story.
Tyler and Alexis
We had great fun with Tyler and Alexis at our local studio getting pictures for our 2009 Christmas Card. The picture of Tyler’s lick was classic Tyler and pure luck that it was captured. Clicking on the picture will lead to an album of more pictures from that photo session.
Alexis & Brooke with M&M’s
Christmas 2009 was chock-a-block full of toys and fun for Alexis and her cousins. It is always amazing how it takes weeks to get everything wrapped and looking perfect and special for Christmas and a mere 20 minutes to get it all unwrapped. Alexis was a bit overwhelmed by all the gifts and some things were put aside to be opened later. By far the best treat of the day were the M&M’s in her stocking. She and Brooke ate those happily and unfortunately in their warm moist little hands they do melt and the colors run all over clothes and faces. But hey … indulgence and fun with family is the name of the game on such occasions. Click the picture to the left or here to see an album of our wonderful Christmas.
Thanksgiving was the usual stuffed gourmet feast thanks to Ryan’s mom, Carol. His sister, Heather, hosted the event and we all enjoyed a wonderful weekend of fun with family. After thanksgiving we ventured for the day to Plum Island and endured the cold and some of the strongest winds on a sandy beach I’ve ever experienced. The sand was extremely painful whipping accross the face and Alexis was a trooper. She loves stickers and had great fun loading Dan’s arms with them. Click HERE For more NOVEMBER pictures.
We lucked out with relatively warm weather for Halloween. I thought Alexis would love her ladybug costume since she loves her ladybug rain boots and figured at the least she would wear the tutu. Days prior to Halloween she dressed up sporadically for a few minutes and then wanted out of her costume. When the actual night came, she wanted nothing to do withthe costume and in the end would only consent to wearing her ladybug headband because her friend Isabella had a bumble-bee headband on.
